What Are You Doing This Weekend?

Friday, Feb. 10 – Listen to The James Montgomery Blues Band with Barrence Whitfield and David Hull at the Port City Music Hall at 7 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the show, $30 VIP. Click here for more information.

Saturday, Feb. 11 – Go bowling at Yankee Lanes (867 Riverside Rd in Portland) from 6 pm to 9 pm and listen to local high school rock bands, presented by the Maine Academy of Modern Music. $5 admission, for more info click here.

Sunday, Feb. 12 – Kids, Kartoons, and Kotzschmar – a family concert at City Hall in Portland starting at 2 pm (fun preconcert activities begin at 1:15). Featuring Rob Richards (House Organist at Disney’s El Capitan theatre) and illustrator Christina Siravo, this fun-filled event is $10 for general admission, ages 12 and under are free. The Valentine’s Day Phantom: a Portland, Maine Tradition

Every February 14, Portland, Maine residents and visitors get a special treat thanks to an anonymous phantom…the city is covered in paper hearts for all to enjoy.

A tradition that began in 1976 in Portland, the Valentine’s Day Phantom has become a heartwarming sight, and has since spread to VermontĀ  cities , and Colorado as well.

No one knows the identity of the Valentine’s Phantom, making the paper hearts even more mysterious.

Portland residents should keep a look out this Tuesday, as the Phantom is sure to strike again.
