With the rise in gas prices, many looked to other modes of transportation to their choice destinations…and what better means than by train?!
The Amtrak Downeaster trips between Portland and Boston with a number of convenient points in between and a reasonable travel time of approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes. Sure beats driving, when you can rest in the comfort of your seat, grab food and drink, relax with a good book or your iPod, and not have to worry about the road.
Not to mention the views along the way and the peace of mind that you’ll get there when you want to, not have to worry about tolls, construction, or weather/traffic delays.
The Downeaster even considered the sports fanatic when making the schedule, as their final departure from Boston’s North Station at 11:20pm normally allows for riders to take in a complete Red Sox or Celtics game and make the return trek! What a deal!
