Sunday, August 15, at 2pm marks the start of the 3rd Annual Tri for a Cure Maine Women’s Triathlon and Dualthlon at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland. The event is Maine’s only all women sprint triathlon and dualthlon and 100% non-profit to support and benefit cancer research.
Over 950 women will participate in this wonderful event with the triathlon featuring a 1/3 mile swim, 15 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. The race course is spectacular with the ocean side setting, a run along Bug Light Park, and a swim near Spring Point Lighthouse, with a finish near Willard Beach.
For more information on this fabulous event, please visit MaineTriForACure.org, and feel free to donate to support a runner or someone you know who has been affected by cancer.
Prior to Race Day, there will be activities for children to enjoy like a Kids Fun Run Saturday at 10am, a Youth Aqua/Run at 11am, and a Poster Contest from 10am – 12:30pm. Some great prizes to be awarded for the winners as well as the top fundraisers.
On Race Day, be sure to check out the starting ceremony, the vendor area with all kinds of gear and information, take a chance with a raffle ticket to win a road bike valued at $1,000, and be sure to head to the finish line to cheer on your loved ones while listening to Sly Chi, and of course stick around for the best awards ceremony around.
Best of luck to all participants and thanks to all who are out their raising money and supporting the cause!
