A little over a month ago, I received a package in the mail from El Jezel, a Brooklyn-based band, who asked that I give a listen to their CD entitled “The Warm Frequency”, as they were reaching out to let Portland music lovers know they would be in town February 18, 2010.
Listening to their music was relaxing, and thought I would share them with you here. According to HillyTown.com, El Jezel will be playing with Phantom Buffalo and Metal Feathers at Apohadion located at 107 Hanover Street, Portland.
For more information on El Jezel, check out their blog at El Jezel.Tumblr.com. Enjoy the show!

Wondering what is going on this Halloween in and around Portland? With Halloween falling on the weekend this year, and an extra hour of sleep on Sunday I might add, there certainly is not a lack of fun and excitement in store for the young and old. Here is a list of a number of events you may wish to consider…
Not your average networking event!
As another Maine fair season winds down, and the cool crisp air reminds us Autumn has arrived, we can count on another fun and exciting Cumberland County Fair beginning Sunday, September 27, and running through Saturday, October 3. The 138th Cumberland Fair returns for another year at the Cumberland Fairgrounds at 197 Blanchard Rd in Cumberland, Maine, with large exhibit halls, a midway, livestock exhibits, cooking demonstrations, a flower show, tractor and animal pulling events, harness racing, a classic car show, and the ever popular pumpkin and squash contest weigh-in.
The Cumberland County Civic Center has a number of entertainment events in store for Portland, Maine, and its visitors this fall and winter with tickets still available for most events. Be sure to check out the CCCC schedule for future updates, news, and other acts that may perform. For now the list includes;
Beginning today, Saturday July 25th at 2pm, Deering Oaks Park will display and celebrate the great diversity of Portland and the State of Maine. The 7th annual family friendly event features wonderful music and dance performances, an international bazaar, as well as vendors delivering information regarding housing, employment, and health issues.
The Maine State Pier in Portland, Maine will play host to great music again as part of the First Annual Machigonne Music Festival beginning at 4pm on August 29th. Earning it’s name from what the natives called the Portland area, Machigonne will feature a great taste of Maine with Rustic Overtones joining headliner Ray LaMontagne (New Hampshire born, but living in Maine) for what promises to be a wonderful event.
