Congratulations to Sophomores Abbey Leonardi of Kennebunk High School and Emily Durgin of Cheverus, who represented Maine at the 2009 Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships today in San Diego, California. Forty boys and forty girls from across the nation qualified through regional races. Leonardi and Durgin qualified by placing second and seventh at the Northeast Regional on Nov. 28 in New York.
In today’s 5k National Final race in San Diego, California, Leonardi placed 22nd in 18:11, and Durgin finished 37th in 18:41. With both ladies having two more years of high school, there is a good shot for them to both make another appearance. Way to go!!!
