Portland Fireworks Display on Eastern Promenade

fireworks (Continued from the prior Fireworks post below regarding the dates and times of Greater Portland Area Fireworks displays)

For more than 100 years, the Eastern Promenade has been the site for Portland’s Fourth of July Fireworks festivities, and this year with July 4th falling on a Saturday for the first time in 11 years, the crowds should be great (hopefully the weather will cooperate) and the fireworks display should be better than ever before! At a price tag of $30,000, which has no changed in years, the City of Portland is getting a bargain for the quality of the show and the crowds expected to attend (pray for no rain, clouds, or fog, please!)

Grucci’s, a five-generation, family-owned and operated company from New York will be running Portland’s fireworks show. Crowds will appreciate a great show, as the Grucci’s been doing this for years, having produced fireworks shows for four Olympic games, as well as U.S. Presidential inaugurations.

The Portland show will begin at dusk around 9:15pm and last about 25-minutes. Should they need a rain date, we’ll be right back on the Eastern Promenade on Sunday, July 5th, at the same time. Please call the City’s hotline to check on the status of the show 756-8130. As Munjoy Hill will be closed to local traffic only due to the large crowds, please park in town Portland and walk to find your spot to watch the show. Food vendors will be on-site and area stores and businesses will be open on the East End as well.

If you cannot make the Portland show, or wonder where a Fireworks display will take place near you, please visit; Maine Approved Fireworks Shows

Enjoy a safe and memorable Fourth of July!
