41st Annual Maine Boatbuilders Show Coming Up

The 41st Annual Maine Boatbuilders Show is making its way to Portland March 16 – 18 at 58 Fore Street, and March 23-25 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

With dazzling displays of a variety of boats, this is one show you don’t want to miss out on. Builders will be present to discuss their collections of the finest wooden boats and fiberglass boats built on the East Coast, including sailboats, powerboats, canoes, kayaks, and rowing boats.

Charity Hockey Game Featuring Portland Pirates March 11

The 2nd Annual Maine Center on Deafness charity hockey game will be held March 11 at 1 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

All proceeds raised will benefit the Maine Center on Deafness.

The Southern Maine Law Enforcement All Stars will first battle it out with the Sebago Brewing All Stars, followed by the BIW Ironclad Hockey team in the first games, and will be followed by the Portland Pirates vs. the Providence Bruins at 4 p.m. Tickets will be good for both the charity game and the Pirates game that day.

A raffle will be held during the charity game for several different items, with proceeds going to Ruth’s Library Project at the Governor Baxter School For the Deaf. The project was started last year and is in memory of Ruth Merrill and her love for reading.

Portland Pirates Hockey New Years Eve 2011 Game and Fireworks

Portland Pirates Hockey

On New Years Eve the Portland Pirates will once again celebrate the entrance into a new year with their 17th annual Kid’s New Year’s Celebration. Saturday Night is Hockey Night in Portland and on Saturday, December 31, 2011, Bud Light will sponsor the promotional event as the Pirates take to the ice against the Worcester Sharks. TheNew Years Eve game is usually a sell out, as their is a fireworks display at the conclusion of the game that is deemed “New England’s largest indoor fireworks display. Portland Pirates Hockey Returns to Portland Saturday, October 15

Portland Pirates Hockey is back in Portland with the teams home opener this Saturday, October 15 at 7pm at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

The Pirates, now the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes are hungry for a successful season under the new partnership with a goal to bring a Calder Cup Championship back to Portland.

Portland Maine’s Cumberland County Civic Center will host the 21st Annual Maine Home, Remodeling & Garden Show from Saturday, February 19, 2011 beginning at 10am until Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 4pm.

Over 175 exhibitors will showcase the latest in appliances, kitchens, baths, siding, windows, home accessories, and more. The weekend will feature a wide variety of on-going demonstrations, relevant seminars and the very popular “Meet the Chef” Cooking Series. Everything you will need to know about building, buying, financing, remodeling, decorating or landscaping is all here in Portland, Maine.

Show hours: Saturday, 2/19 – 10AM to 6 PM and Sunday, 2/20 – 10 AM to 4 PM.

We just spoke with an employee at the Cumberland County Civic Center box office who confirmed that additional tickets have been released very close to the stage for the Jeff Dunham Identity Crisis Tour on Wednesday, March 9, at 7:30pm.

You can get your Jeff Dunham tickets via the previous Ticketmaster.com link, or in person at the box office window (and avoid the convenience fee surcharge). Reserved seats are going for $41.50. Grab them while you can folks.

Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show – Portland, Feb 6-7

Sure it’s chilly today, but we’re all thinking ahead to the spring and summer, and what a great way to get ready for the warmer weather by visiting The Maine Home, Remodeling, and Garden Show at the Cumberland County Civic Center today and tomorrow. The show will be open Saturday, February 6, from 10am – 6pm, and again Sunday, February 7, from 10am – 5pm, just in time to get back to watch the Super Bowl.

Like past home shows at the Civic Center, there will be over 170 exhibitors of home-related products & services for you to preview. You’ll witness some home remodeling ideas and be able to talk to the experts in the field about questions or concerns you have with your own projects, or be able to “interview” them for the job of taking on your next remodel. There will also be informative seminars related to home and garden pieces, as well as cooking demonstrations from the “Meet the Chefs” cooking series.
