Jr. Red Claws Basketball Camp Coming in July at Portland Expo

If you have a future basketball star in your family, be sure to check out the Jr. Red Claws Basketball Camp at the Portland Expo from July 23 – 27.

The camp’s expert instructors will teach boys and girls from ages 7-15 and all skill levels great new basketball tricks and skills.

Registration is $185 for the week-long event. Drills go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Children will receive t-shirts, tickets to a Red Claws game, a pizza party, and more!

Portland’s Annual American Heart Association Heart Walk This Sunday

The American Heart Association will be hosting its annual Heart Walk on Sunday, May 20 at 9:30 a.m. around the Back Cove in Portland. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The walk raises funds for medical research to help treat and prevent heart-related illness.

Great Strides Walk in Portland to Benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Help walk toward a cure for cystic fibrosis on Saturday, May 19 in Portland!

Portland’s Great Strides will feature food, a live band and children’s entertainment including Crusher, mascot for the Maine Red Claws NBA D-League basketball team. At last year’s walk 500 walkers raised almost $200,000 to fund research to help find a cure.

The walk will begin at 10 a.m., with check-in starting at 9 at St. Pius X Church at 492 Ocean Avenue.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation funds more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support. Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation also supports and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease.
