Portland, Maine – ‘the San Francisco of the East’

Portland, Maine just got a little more praise - Chicago Tribune travel writer Josh Noel recently documented his trip to the best city in the U.S. and was left with quite the impression.

According to Josh, “Its most endearing feature is a cozy, Old World charm.”

Portland definitely has charm, as he references several local spots – J’s Oyster, Allagash Brewing, Fore Street, Petit Jacqueline, and Hugo’s.

Josh’s adventures in Portland are just a reminder of all the wonderful things this city has to offer, whether you’re just visiting or a seasoned local. Go Portland!

2nd Annual Into The Mud Challenge – Saturday, May 5, 2012 – Gorham, Maine

Yes, one lucky winner drawn at random will walk (hmmm, squish..) away with free beer for a year at the 2nd Annual Into The Mud Challenge in Gorham, on Saturday, May 5, 2012.  Starting at the Gorham Middle School participants will make their way through a 2. 5 mile course consisting of obstacles and mud pits. Brunswick, ME Named Among Best U.S. Small Towns

Portland isn’t the only part of Maine that makes some impressive lists – Brunswick has just been named the #13 Best Small Town in America by Smithsonian Magazine!

The magazine chose 20 towns across the country with interesting sights to see and compiled the list. Way to go Brunswick!

L.L. Bean Donates $1 Million to Healthy Hometowns Program

L.L. Bean has announced its donation of $1 million to Healthy Hometowns, a non-profit organization designed to get kids outdoors and participating in fun physical activities in over 400 Maine communities.

Seth Wescott and Joan Benoit Samuelson, two Olympic gold medalists were at an event put together by L.L. Bean today for the announcement.
