It’s fall time in Maine and you know what that means?!?! The Maine Brewers Festival, where New Englanders will gather to toast the Maine craft beer community! The 19th annual Maine Brewers Festival will take place on November 2&3 at the Portland Expo.
With about a month to go, the Universal Properties Team over at Keller Williams Realty is giving you a chance to win tickets to the Saturday, November 3rd, evening session.
There are two tickets available and two ways to win:
1.) Get creative! How many words can you create from the phrase ‘Maine Brewers Festival’? Email this list to info@universalpropertiesmaine.com. The entry with the most words wins, of course. In the event of a tie, the winner will be randomly selected.
2.) Take the easy way out. Share this post on your Facebook wall. Everyone who shares will be thrown in to a lottery and a name will be drawn on November 1.

Supporting locally owned and community based businesses, Portland Buy Local offers mixers and various events throughout the year that culminates with the awards event featuring live music and and wonderful opportunity to showcase and honor the standout businesses of the year in various categories including Portland’s Best Kept Secret and Best New Business. Dimillo’s on Portland’s waterfront will serve host once again to the 12th Annual March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Auction on Wednesday, October 3, beginning at 5:30pm. The always well-attended charitable event offers folks the opportunity to taste signature dishes from some great local restaurants. During the cocktail reception, you will be able to bid on silent auction items donated by local Maine businesses including dinners, travel, sports, and entertainment items to name just a few. A live auction caps off the night
This year the restaurants taking part in the Signature Chef dishes include; DiMillio’s, The Salt Exchange, The Farmer’s Table, Bruno’s, Figa, Walter’s, and Zapoteca.
The event helps raise funds and awareness for the March of Dimes mission of healthier babies.

Although apple season is upon us a little early this year, let’s not jump into the typical fall season activities just yet. Why not enjoy this beautiful weekend in Freeport, outside, in Discovery Park on the L.L. Bean campus. Enjoy over 50 booths of talented artists, listen to live music, eat food and maybe squeeze in some shopping. Plenty of fun for kids too! Free admission and parking! Festivities begin at noon on Saturday and 10 am on Sunday.

Open Lighthouse Day across the country is Saturday, September 15, 2012, where the U.S. Coast Guard, State of Maine and American Lighthouse Foundation, open up select lighthouses to the general public. Going on its 4th year, the event draws large crowds and is fun for all ages.

The Coast Guard Cutter Eagle will be arriving in Portland at 10 a.m. tomorrow and will be docked there until Monday, offering free tours throughout the weekend for the public to enjoy as part of its 2012 cruise.
Tours are available on Friday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

This is the 10th year for the Greater Portland Festival of Nations, which is free and open to anyone. It involves performing arts, crafts, music, and food from a variety of backgrounds.
