Sebago Brewing Company set to move to New Location

Tonight will be Sebago Brewing Company’s last night (Saturday, May 21) at 164 Middle Street, so come out and wish them well, as they move to their brand spanking new location 211 Fore Street (corner of Fore Street and Franklin Arterial) which will house their state of the art brewpub, and is just blocks from the old location in the Old Port.

The new Sebago Brewing Company location will open Friday, May 27, at 11am. Again, come out and celebrate! That day, Sebago will be releasing their brand new Single Batch Series beer, Trekker Pale Ale, which is a “classic American pale ale. It is light bronze in color, with a moderate malt character up front that gives way to an increasing hop aroma with a clean dry finish”. Enjoy!

Irish American Club of Maine – St. Patricks Day Dinner & St Pat’s Parade

Courtesy of apexembdesigns.com

Join the Irish American Club of Maine this weekend for their Annual Traditional Irish Dinner this Saturday evening, March 12, 2011, at St. Dominic’s Church on the corner of State Street and Gray Street in Portland. Fill up on great food while enjoying the company of great people.

On Sunday, head down to Commercial Street in Portland for the Annual St. Patricks Parade beginning at noon, at Becky’s Diner, which will proceed down Commercial Street and end with a Ceili Dance at RiRa Irish Pub, 72 Commercial Street, Portland, from 2:30pm-4:30pm with live music. Not that the celebration will ever end…even though it’s Sunday.  There will be pipe bands, flags, marchers, music and fun.

Great! We don’t have to wait until Thursday, when St. Patrick’s Day is officially recognized to celebrate. Not that any other day stopped us before. Portland has always been a buzz on St. Patrick’s Day. Wake up at dawn and enjoy a traditional breakfast downtown and get the festivities started early.

Enjoy your weekend, your family and friends, and your beer. Take care!

Portland Ice Bar January 27-29, 2011 – Portland Harbor Hotel

Courtesy of www.elegantice.com

Portland, Maine, may be a bit chilly this winter, yet when the mercury drops after the first of the year it reminds me of the return of The Ice Bar from Thursday, January 27, 2011, to Saturday, January 29, 2011. Now on to their seventh annual event, the Portland Harbor Hotel is prepared to celebrate against this year.

Enjoy specialty martinis, beers and wines outside in the courtyard at bars sculpted from ice. Watch your drink poured through beautiful ice sculptures as well. If you need to warm up, you can enjoy your drinks inside the hotel while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. Doors will open each day for The Ice Bar at 5pm to ticket holders and will end each night at 9pm.

The Ice Bar is sponsored this year by Shipyard Brewing Company and Rokk Vodka. As mentioned, there will be food available to guests from The Grill Room, Havana South, and Denny Mike’s ‘Cue Stuff (award-winning barbeque).

You can buy your Portland Ice Bar tickets in advance at Portland Ice Bar Tickets. Again, a reminder that this event has been well-attended in the past, and has previously sold out, so pick up your tickets early.

Santacon Portland 2010 – Saturday, December 4

Portland’s Old Port will experience a bit more holiday cheer again this year as the 3rd Annual Santacon Portland takes place Saturday, December 4th. Following another successful event last year with over 80 folks dressed as Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Elves, Missletoe, and even a Christmas tree, the Santacon fun will begin at 4pm at The Empire, before embarking on everyone’s favorite drinking establishments to spread the holiday spirit throughout Portland’s Old Port. Everyone is welcomed to join in on the fun and excitement and enjoy a holiday drink or two, and yes, if you dress up there will be food and drink specials at each stop.

The organizers have created a list of tips to keep you off Santa’s naughty list;

1. Come in costume - its kinda the whole point. Don’t be “that guy” who shows up with only a Santa hat on. Be creative. If you’re not into Santa, come as some other holiday themed person or object. We are sure to have some Mistletoes, Christmas trees, snowmen, elves, and reindeer among us on Saturday. And maybe most importantly, the beer and food specials will only apply to people in costume! Do your wallet the favor!

2. Pace yourself. Santa likes to have a glass of water every now and then between his holiday beverages! With all those drink specials it’s going to be hard not to get a little too jolly, but don’t be that Santa. Santa reserves the right to deny that he knows you.

3. Tip well, treat the bars well and pay your tab. These places are nice enough to put up with us and to offer us some sweet deals, so return the favor! Santa is nothing if he’s not generous and joyous!

4. When you hear “Santas on the move,” finish your beer, pay your tab and follow the herd of Santas to the next spot.

5. Bring a camera. There’s truly is nothing like 50, 75, 100+ Santas marching down Congress St., ordering a beer, or doing anything for that matter. You will want to have photos to show friends and family not able to join us (or to help jog your own memory if you have one Prelude too many) The pics from last year are great, and with even more Santas this year, the photo ops will be plenty!
