On Wednesday, October 27th, Young Mainers will make history in the first-ever youth organized and executed gubernatorial forum televised live statewide on WABI-TV5, WPME (Portland) and WPXT (Lewiston). Maine youth will be asking the questions about candidate’s plans for education, job creation and growing Maine’s economy.
With 18 watch parties organized by young people at high schools and community centers around the state, this forum – on TV and the internet with interactive submission of questions on facebook and live chat – will be a great demonstration of technology connecting people from Presque Isle to Portland and Jackman to Calais. The Portland viewing party will be held at the University of Southern Maine, 326 Luther Bony Hall on the Portland Campus tonight and will run from 6:40pm to 9:00 pm.
There have been an unprecedented number of gubernatorial forums and debates in this campaign cycle, but this one, organized and executed by a statewide network of high school students, promises to be the most innovative.
